The first is to guide the Sydney Kings into the playoffs and make a run for the title.
The blueprint is simple: capture the early season form that had them leading the league with a combination of hard work and following the astute tactics of coach Andrew Gaze.
The second is to find Ida.
Ida? Yes, Ida – Cadee’s mystery guardian angel. A task that is proving more tricky.
Rewind to July 12, 2010 and the Kings’ guard was involved in a near fatal car accident back when a semi-trailer slammed into his car on the driver’s side on the M7 on his way back from Castle Hill.
The accident happened two months after signing his first NBL contract with the Gold Coast Blaze and left him with a shattered pelvis.
Enter Ida.
“I can’t remember much about her, except she was an older lady and she was sitting with me. She was unbelievable and comforted me,” Cadee told the Champion.
“She sat with me and risked her own life crossing several lanes of traffic on the freeway to keep me calm when I was trapped for 90-minutes in the car.”
Now, Cadee, who grew up in Prestons, wants to say thanks to the woman who comforted him during the most traumatic moment of his life.
“When I was a bit younger I avoided it and wanted to distance myself from the accident but now that I’m a bit older I want to say thank you,” said Cadee, who required a pin to be inserted into his hip.
“Ida has done a lot for me and doesn't know me from a bar of soap.
“I’d like to reconnect with her and bring her to a game as a small gesture of how much I appreciate her help. I’d love to meet her.”
The problem is Cadee can’t remember what Ida looks like or what her surname is.
So he needs YOUR help.
“If you know anyone called Ida, ask them if they helped someone in a car accident. I’d love to spread the message and try and find her,” he said.
