Grab a snag and help raise funds for a Highlands volunteer emergency service.
Bunnings Warehouse Mittagong will host a special Australia Day Weekend Fundraiser barbecue to assist the Alpine-Aylmerton RFS
Team members will be serving sausage sizzles with Bunnings employees, with every cent raised going directly to the RFS.
You can grab a fundraising sausage on January 28 between 9.00am and 4.00pm.
NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said he was pleased Bunnings was offering their support to emergency services through this initiative.
“Our 74,000 members are working every day to help protect the community from bush fires, and this Australia Day will be no different,” he said.
“I’d like to thank Bunnings and their customers for supporting our volunteers in their important work.”
He reminded residents to make sure they were prepared for fires.
“It is not only important for everyone who lives in a bush fire prone area to prepare their home, but also to have a discussion with their family about what you would all do if a bush fire took hold in your area,” Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.
Bunnings Warehouse Mittagong complex manager Andrew Veitch said the fundraisier was a way for team members and all Australians to show their appreciation for the great work done by local volunteer emergency services around the country.
“The team is really excited to get behind the barbecue to help raise vital funds for our local NSW Rural Fire Service,” he said.
Family activities and games, such as thong throwing, hopscotch, quoits, measuring tape competition and luck thong fishing, will also be held throughout the day.
Bunnings Warehouse Mittagong is located on the corner of Old Hume Highway and Tyree Place, Mittagong.
