About 8pm on Friday, April 22 2016, a man entered a shop in Elm Street, produced a knife and demanded money from the shop assistant, police allege.
The man was able to flee from the premises with a sum of cash.
Police from The Hume Local Area Command attended and began an investigation. They seized several items of clothing nearby which were forensically examined.
Following developments on the case, investigators arrested a 22-year-old man at a home in Finlay on January 10, assisted by police from Deniliquin Local Area Command.
The man was later charged with armed robbery at Finlay Police Station and was refused bail.
He appeared at court on January 10, but was not granted bail. He will reappear at Deniliquin Local Court on March 7.
