The radio station is getting ready to start broadcasting from Bowral in December.
Volunteers have worked hard to prepare the new station at Bowral Mall.
Highland FM 107.1 also has a new chairman.
Peter Short was unanimously elected as the chairman of Media Co-operative Limited which is the operating company for the FM station.
He has been a volunteer presenter on Tuesday Drive at the station since 2013 and became a member of the board in 2015.
Peter lives in the Southern Highlands and works as a property and commercial lawyer.
He will succeed former chairperson Carolyn Beaumont who will continue on the board as the new secretary, having been unanimously elected to that position.
“We are very proud of our community radio station in the Southern Highlands,” Peter said.
“We are about to open the station in the heart of Bowral at Bowral Mall in Station St. This will give us a higher profile in the city and allow people to come and see us while we are broadcasting.
“It will also give people the opportunity of seeing what is involved and hopefully encourage an intake of new members, some of whom will want to become presenters on air. We are encouraging that move forward.”
