People came together for International Day of People with Disability, organised by workers at Disability Services Australia (DSA) in Moss Vale.
DSA regional manager Anne McNeilly said the day was a chance to celebrate inclusiveness in the community.
“It’s great to have this chance to raise awareness in the community,” she said.
It was the third year the day had been held, with an ‘Ability Walk’ around the lake before the Pimp My Chair competition.
Students from Moss Vale High School, participants in DSA Moss Vale and Picton programs, and those assisted in local DSA supported accommodation attended the event.
DSA support administration employee Alison Lewis said the day also helped their clients meet other people and develop friendships.
“The day is all about breaking down barriers, promoting an understanding of people with disability and encouraging support for their dignity, rights and well-being,” she said.
The event was supported by Wingecarribee Shire Council, Southern Rise Bakery, Williams Quality Meats, Moss Vale Services Club and Oxley Butchery.
