Kristie began work at Council as a Finance Cadet and progressed into her current role as Creditors Supervisor, while studying for her Bachelor of Commerce degree at UOW Southern Highlands.
“Prior to University I completed a Certificate IV via TAFE NSW. I love to learn and take on new challenges so when I gained the Finance Cadetship position, I decided to do further study so that I would be able to establish a career in the Finance Sector while gaining on the job experience.”
Kristie says that after completing her degree that she hopes to move into an Accountant position with Council, perhaps with a focus on Management Accounting.
“From there I may complete my CPA (Certified Practising Accountant) and see where that leads for the future.”
The University’s Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting is an accredited pathway by the peak professional organisations for accountancy in Australia, including CPA Australia, and is recognised internationally. So Kristie is on the right track to reach her goal.
“Even though I am from Wollongong I chose to study at UOW Southern Highlands as that is where my work is based and I had heard positive feedback about the campus and was impressed by what was on offer when I attended the Open Night” Kristie said.
“My favourite thing about studying at UOW Southern Highlands is the smaller class size as it means that tutorials are a much more personalised experience. Your tutor is able to get to know your strengths and weaknesses and offer more tailored guidance than possible in large classes at other campuses.”
“If you are looking to obtain a University degree in an attentive and enjoyable environment, I would definitely recommend enrolling with UOW Southern Highlands.”
