“Both my parents left school in year ten, and really sacrificed a lot for me to go to a private school. I want to someday thank them for that by succeeding in what I want to do”.
After completing her HSC, Annalise had no idea about what she wanted to study so she took a gap year to travel and work.
“I travelled all over Australia, and went overseas to New Zealand and the some of the Pacific Islands. I also realised that I don't have enough patience for hospitality work!”
Taking a gap year gave Annalise time to work out her career goals which brought her to UOW Southern Highlands where she is currently studying the Bachelor of Arts with hopes to then go on to study the Master of Teaching.
“I started studying full-time and quickly realised it would be best to change to part-time study to ensure I got the marks I wanted, and to continue with my part-time work.”
“The UOW Southern Highlands campus is very close to home, so I can still live with my parents and see all my friends and family and keep my current job, it's also a very beautiful campus – there are a few spots where you can sit to study without getting distracted.”
Annalise hopes to one day teach at Chevalier College as her family has a long history of involvement over the years and she wants to continue to do so.
