Jordan completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History and then progressed to the Master of Teaching – all completed at the Southern Highlands campus of UOW in Moss Vale.
“Living locally, I studied at UOW Southern Highlands because of its convenience. During my five years of study, I have thoroughly enjoyed the small campus - the staff and students are all so supportive and friendly”, Jordan said.
“The smaller class sizes allow it to be more interactive and personal. The tutors are able to facilitate great discussions that get everybody involved”.
Jordan had previously trained as swimming instructor - it was from these interactions with young people that she developed a passion for education and inspiring young minds.
“Being able to do my practical placements in the local community gave me the opportunity to build positive relationships with schools; they were able to see who I really am instead of just a name on a resume”.
Jordan will be graduating in December 2016 and has already been successful in obtaining a full-time appointment with Mulwarree High School in Goulburn next year.
Master of Teaching coordinator Kim Clothier said that Jordan had developed a strong aptitude for teaching during her studies and practical placement.
“Jordan’s future employers were impressed with her skills during the practicals and this has led directly to her immediately securing a full-time teaching position for 2017”.
Jordan added that she is “looking forward to graduating and excited about starting her teaching career and working full time”.
