About 30 Kookaburra Kids from the Highlands, South Coast and Illawarra travelled to the Illawarra Fly near Robertson for a fun activity day.
They were joined by a flock of corporate volunteers who came dressed as Batman, Wonderwoman, Catwoman and The Avengers as part of the Superhero day.
The children and superheroes were treated to over 200 metres throughout three zip-lines amongst trees more than 20 metres high off the ground, followed by a barbecue lunch.
Kookaburra Kids community engagement manager Anita Kenny said the children enjoyed every second.
“It’s not too often these kids get the opportunity to let loose and have some fun,” she said.
“I’d like to thank Lachlan and the crew at Illawarra Fly for hosting our group and providing them with such a fun and exciting experience.
“It’s this type of support that enables us to provide special outings for our Kookaburra Kids, allowing them to just be kids for a day.”
The Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation supports children living in families affected by mental illness through its free respite camps, fun school holiday activities and early intervention mental health education programs.
The children attending the program are often primary carers in their households, taking on responsibilities well beyond their years.
Currently Kookaburra Kids supports more than 1000 children across NSW, with approximately 250 from the South Coast, Illawarra and Southern Highlands regions.
