Round one of the Independent Sports Association (ISA) summer competition began on October 23. 

The ISA summer program incorporates a variety of sports, the include cricket, basketball and softball. 

It’s purpose is to provide inter-school sports competition on a home-and-away basis between the member schools for both genders in Years 7 to 12.

Round one got off to rainy start and both the softball and cricket were cancelled due to wet weather. 

Many of Chevalier’s teams travelled away for their first games. A couple of the girls basketball teams travelled to the Blue Mountains for their games and the second grade cricketers travelled to the Central Coast. 

The Chevalier girls Open 1st basketballers and the junior A girls both had a good start to the season in Wentworth Falls. 

The firsts defeated the Blue Mountains 56-31 and the junior A girls took a massive 73-12 victory over the Blue Mountains. 

Simone Inwood and Chelsea Hogg top scored for the firsts with Eva Lawrance and Darcie Braddock strong in defence.

The junior B and C teams played at home.The Bs had trouble scoring against St Spyridon and were defeated 17-13. The junior Cs were regularly able to find the basket and took a 36-16 win over St Spyridon Blue. 

In the boys basketball the A teams travelled up the road to Campbelltown to play St Gregory’s.  

In a good start to the competition, all teams were winners except the unfortunate 17s, who only had five players and were not able to keep a hold of their lead.

The 13a side took a 40-22 victory, the 14a side followed suit with a 44-20 win. The 15a side took a 52-37 victory while the 17a team were defeated in a very close 28-30. 

The Open 1^st side took a 10 point win over St Gregory’s at 85-75. It was a well-fought match and both sides showed strong handling skills. 

Chevalier College  extra curriculum administartor Andrew Bell said Josh watts and Zac Ottosson. put in the best effort for the boys. 

The boys B teams all moved up a Division and had a tough day at Oakhill College. 

The only team to take a win was the 14b side who defeated the opposition 30-15.

The Open 2^nd side was defeated by Oakhill gold 36-16, the 17B side were also defeated 23-44. The under 13b and under 15b side were also defeated 14-42 and 16-33, respectively. 

The Open 1^st and 2^nd cricket sides travelled to Oakhill Central Coast Grammar for thir first games of the competition. 

Good performances from both teams resulted in very happy bus trips home.

Bell said the 1^st side was nervous for their first round, but the team were able to finish the round with a win. 

James Weekes led the team with bat and ball and scored 61 in a total of 112, as well as four wickets. 

Jay Herrod was next best with the bat and also took a couple of wickets. Blake Denney and James Morton took a couple of classic catches in the field and contributed to the team’s success. 

The 2nds bowled well and restricted Central Coast Grammar School to 112 runs. They only lost 1 wicket in the run chase and passed the target in the 21st over.

Robert Macleod was the star with 85 runs and 2 wickets..
