Moss Vale Police Station
Changes to the plan for Moss Vale Police Station will be discussed. The changes include a new wall and signage as part of the new complex to be built on Elizabeth Street, however, as the modification application has been lodged on behalf of the Crown, council cannot refuse it. Instead, council is advised to refer the matter to the minister for planning.

Coal mining briefing session
Councillor Larry Whipper has called for coal mining-related updates to come to council before its final meeting in December.
Cr Whipper has called for council to invite Coalfree Southern Highlands to present an update on its water and economic study, and Hume Coal to present an update on mining plans prior to the last council meeting of 2016.
Aged care forum
A collaborative community response to aged care in the region will be tabled at council. Councillors Garry Turland and Grahame Andrews submitted a motion that council host a forum for involved stakeholders. This would include chief executive officers (CEOs) of local aged care providers and managers of the local TAFE and University of Wollongong campuses. The aim of the forum is to ascertain the training and recruitment neds of the aged care sector and determine how council, TAFE and UOW can work together to meet current and future needs.
Casual councillor
FIVE councillors will seek to clarify a section of the Local Government Act relating to filling a casual councillor vacancy. The act allows council to appoint a casual councillor within 18 months of the election by count back of votes, rather than a costly by-election. The councillors state no date was provided in the act regulations. Councillors Garry Turland, Duncan Gair, Graham McLaughlin, Peter Nelson and Grahame Andrews will ask council to write to the minister of local government to request a date regarding the relevant section of the act, to allow council the option of applying this to the current term.
