The team raised more than $2700 to support Motor Neurone Disease research, climbing to the top of Sydney Tower in more than 20kgs of full fire fighting gear. Team members James Austin and Max Cottingham from NSW Fire and Rescue Bowral, Tess Brearley from RFS Wingello, Nick Sloan from RFS Mittagong, Jordan Jobson from RFS Regentsville and Shane Campbell from RFS Berrima were among 446 firefighters from across Australia and international borders to tackle the climb.
Group co-ordinator James Austin said the team took on the exhausting challenge with enthusiasm. “It was impressive to see so many firefighters climb one of Sydney's iconic buildings for a great cause,” he said. The entire effort raised more than $480,000 overall for MND research, of a $500,000 goal. Further donations can be made at https://firefightersclimbformnd.everydayhero.com/au/the-southern-scalers
