More than 200 cars and a number of motorbikes put on a spectacular show, with car and bike lovers in seventh heaven at the wide variety on show at Tom Smith Oval at Albatross, adjacent to the at the Fleet Air Arm Museum.
Holdens, Fords, VW, MGs, Minis, Chevs, Mustangs, roadsters, hot rods of all descriptions, historic and modern cars were on display. There was even a 1961 Ford Thunderbird convertible.
Organisers Glenn Smith and Stu Walters were delighted with the success of the day.
“We had a great field of cars and bikes and a fantastic crowd,” Mr Walters said.
“There were more than 200 cars on show which made for a spectacular event. It was certainly what we were hoping for.
“There was something for everyone. From the latest models, back to many popular cars from yesteryear. The variety was incredible.”
He said it is estimated a crowd of close to 2000 people visited the show throughout the day.
“The weather also played it’s part and stayed fine throughout the day,” he said.
“It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to organise a show like this and we must thank everyone who was involved, the exhibitors who bought cars and bikes to the show and the spectators who simply came along to support the day.
“We must thank all the local businesses who supported the event and made it a success, especially our major backers HMAS Albatross, Bellert and Bennett, Shannons and Meguiar’s.
“The support of volunteers on the day was superb, as was the efforts of cadets from Training Ship Shoalhaven who worked tirelessly during the day collecting entry fees and then undertaking coin collection.
“We can’t thank everyone enough.”
Mr Walters said a final figure from the fundraising efforts was still being calculated.
Sunday, October 29 has been set as a tentative date for next year’s event.
