As part of St Francis Day, patron saint of animals, a special ceremony will be held to bless companion animals, ponies, horses and rescued wildlife.
Members of Friends of the Wingecarribee Animal Shelter have been invited to attend and bring their pets, as well as WIRES and local pony clubs.
It has been advised for animals that do not cope in crowds should be left at home.
Pets and their owners are asked to gather in St Patrick’s Church at 10.30am for the procession into the church. Larger animals will remain outside securely tethered and non-domesticated animals will be left in cages under a shelter provided.
There is room for horse floats and all animals will be blessed.
Take part in the ‘Blessing of the Animals’ ceremony on October 9 at the St Patrick’s Church, Illawarra Highway. Sutton Forest.
The ceremony has been organised by members of the Iona Christian Community of the Southern Highlands.
