Carl Phillips joined Nick Campbell Jones as co-patron of KKKK at the recent AGM.
He has been involved with the KKKK since 2003 when he first joined as treasurer.
Mr Phillips served as treasurer until 2013 and was then made a life member.
“Nick’s been a patron for awhile and I was honoured to be made co-patron,” he said.
“Until you get involved you just don’t realise how many people are disadvantaged. There’s so many families with special needs children in our area.”
Mr Phillips said the KKKK prided itself on putting all funds raised back into the community.
“Every dollar raised goes out, there’s no cost. So if I’ve got to send 100 letters, I’ve got to pay for postage.”
He said KKKK founder and president Tony Springett was a great motivator and he hoped the committee would continue to raise money to help support the Highlands community.
“We go to schools and individuals. For schools, we’ve donated vegetable gardens and lots of learning equipment.” The annual Gentlemen’s Lunch will be held on October 21 at Highlands Golf Club.
Tickets will cost $180 per person including food, wine and entertainment. Bookings can be made online at http://www.trybooking.com/MWRD/
