Members and guests of the Mittagong Hockey Club gathered at the Mittagong RSL on September 24 to celebrate the conclusion of the 2016 winter field hockey season.

Monique Bernie was awarded the 2016 women’s most improved player. Andrew Pinkerton presented the men’s most improved player to Charlie Strachan.
The third grade men’s Panthers best and fairest award was presented to Jack Strachan by Nelson Worner.
Brooke Wortz presented the third grade ladies Cheetahs best and fairest award to Maddison Higson. The Cheetahs women were also congratulated on winning the 2016 Southern Highlands Hockey association (SHHA) third grade women’s premiership.
The very special Eric Scholarship was awarded to Luke McClay. The scholarship is awarded to young players who go above expectations in attitude and contribution to the sport and the club.
Mittagong men’s Cheetahs best and fairest award was presented to Martin Aungle by club Life Member Neville Dillon.
The Club’s ‘frequent flyer’ players were presented with medallions for clocking up 100, 200 and 300 games.
The first grade ladies Shirley Wright best and fairest award was presented by team coach Yolande Isedale with April Hamilton taking home the hotly contested prize.
The Highlands Lions men best and fairest recipient was awarded to Ben Mercieca.
Super coach Mark Stafford presented the Illawarra Lions best and fairest to Cameron Hughes.
Life member Phillip Worner presented the most outstanding male player to Cameron Hughes and the most outstanding female player was awarded to Rebecca Cross.
The club’s best under-21 female was awarded to Chloe Gardner Snowden and best under-21 male was awarded to Sean Cross.
Club person on the year was presented by club president and life member, Glen Isedale, to a very deserving Andrew Knowles. Andrew’s enthusiasm and effort in coaching and supporting our Junior teams has played a key role in the success of the Mittagong Juniors.
Claire Stafford was presented with a life membership for her many years of service to the club. Claire has been treasurer for the club for 11 years and has supported the club for many years prior.
At the conclusion of the presentations all committee members, players and sponsors were thanked for their continued support of the club. Special mention went to Denise Horvath for another wonderful job coordinating the juniors and to Glenn Fleming for another great job as MC for the night.
