The Sydney Thunder re-signed Lauren after she played an impressive season in the WBBL01.
Lauren proved herself as a standout player after the Sydney Thunder won the inaugural bash.
The local left-arm fast bowler took 18 wickets last season and secured herself a place in India.
Lauren’s mother Sandy Cheatle said she was very proud of her daughter’s most recent achievement.
“It’s a very exciting time for Lauren, she’s worked very hard so it’s a great outcome,” she said.
Sandy said the popularity of the women’s big bash makes her daughter’s achievement that much more exciting.
“The inaugural bash last year went very well. And it was so fantastic to see how excited cricket fans were about the women’s big bash,” she said.
“It’s great to have women involved in some Twenty20 cricket.”
Lauren’s WWBL01 team mates Nicola Carey and Naomi Stalenberg were also re-signed for the second edition after they played standout cricket in the inaugural bash and Southern Stars tour.
Lauren sat out the current Southern Stars tour of Sri Lanka to focus on her HSC, but her mother said she is looking forward to getting back into the WBBL.
“The last few months have been really stressful for her. Between studying, training and the NSW Breakers she’s not had a lot of time,” she said.
“She’s really looking forward to just playing cricket and not having any other worries.”
Lauren will sit her HSC in just two weeks time.
“She will actually sit to of her exams in Brisbane because she’s travelling with the Breakers,” Sandy said.
“She’s had a lot going on and she has handled herself very well.”
Lauren’s first WBBL02 match will be against Melbourne on December 10 at North Sydney Oval.
“She’s really excited to get into it,” Sandy said.
“School will be done and she will able to focus just on her cricket.”
