Highlands Soccer Association director of competitions & systems Danny Josipovic congratulated the players on their performances.
“The game was played in great spirits and everyone looked to enjoy themselves out on the field which is what we want,” he said.
Exeter captain Craig Johnson said the loss was disappointing.
“Look we had a great year and this was a very tough match. It’s disappointing to lose but I think Exeter did a great job out there,” he said.
Moss Vale coach Corey Dinham said Exeter were the perfect team to play in the grand final.
“They were the best team for us to play and the match could have gone either way. We fought hard against Exeter all year so it was good to play them in the grand final,” he said.
Moss Vale had ten youth grade players in the team this season.
“They really turned it on for us this season. The team and the club is very proud of the young blokes, they had a really great year,” Dinham said.
Bowral battled for premiership victory in the men’s third grade grand final against the Bundanoon Rebels. Bowral finished the ordinary season at the top of the ladder while Bundanoon finished in second place.
The match was hard-fought but Bowral lead right throughout the game. At the final whistle the score was 5-2 to Bowral. Bowral captain Stewart Kinsella said Bundanoon pushed Bowral the whole game.
“Bundanoon made us work hard all game and we had to put in 110 per cent in order to win the match,” he said.
Kinsella also thanked the huge crowd of Bowral supporters at the match.
“We couldn’t have done without all the support today. It was a really enjoyable game and season for us and we produced a lot of great results.”
Bundanoon captain Phil Tallon said the team knew the grand final against Bowral would be tough.
“Bowral were the deserved winners, they have been front runners and the ones to watch all season. The match was always going to be a stretch for us but I think my blokes fought hard and had a lot of fun while doing it,” he said.
