The Margaret Cech Writing Competition has been created by members of the Fellowship of Australian Writers Southern Highlands (FAWSH) in memory of late member Margaret Cech.
President Ken Challenor said the competition would be restricted to residents of the Wingecarribee to foster, endorse and grow writing in the area.
“We have encouraged writers of all ages in the art of writing short stories, poetry and 10-minute plays in Bowral for the past 11 years,” he said.
The competition has categories for primary and secondary school students, as well as for adults in poetry and short story writing.
Book vouchers and cash prizes can be won.
The competition will be launched September 30 at the Wingecarribee Library, Bendooley Street, Bowral, from 5.00pm.
Entries for the competition must be submitted before December 16, 2016.
