Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens continue to bloom

THE Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens continues to take shape.

Some recent donations were made to the gardens including two sculptures by Tony Emmett, and two benches- one from the Bowral Garden Club and the other from the Highlands Garden Society.

Mr Emmett’s statue situated in the Birch collection is called Wings of Love and was dedicated to Tony Davis who bred all the daffodils and named them after local people and places.

His statue in what will be the winter woodland is called Man and the Universe and was dedicated to the founding members of the botanic gardens and all the supporters and committees.

Chairman of the botanic gardens board Charlotte Webb said it was the donation from the Highlands Garden Club that had allowed them to put in the Birch collection.

The bench that was donated by the Bowral Garden Club looks down Foundation Walk.

Ms Webb said everyone was welcome to the working bees, held on the first Tuesday of each month.
