Students from across the Highlands competed at the South Coast Regional PSSA Athletics Carnival recently and produced some outstanding results.

The event was held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
The weather was wet and cold and due to this the decision was made to cancel all finals.
South Coast School Sport Association sports coordination officer, Meegan Dignam, said the conditions were abyssmal.
“Announcements were made approximately every 10-15 minutes from 8:45am that cancellations were a strong possibility and that competitors should treat their heat as a timed final,” she said.
Students from Bong Bong (small schools), Bowral, Bundanoon, Colo Vale, Hill Top, Mittagong, Moss Vale and Robertson attended the event.

In the girls 11 year old high jump finals, Lily H from Bowral Public School placed second after a 1.25 metre jump.
Maya B from Colo Vale Public Schol finished in first place in the girls 12-13 year old high jump finals. She placed well ahead of other competitors with a 1.41 metre jump.
Tim O from Bowral Public School came second in the boys 12 year old 100 metre final sprint. His time came in at 14.09 seconds.
In the boys 13 year old 100 metre final sprint, Levi F from Bowral Public School finished in third place with a time of 15.07 seconds.
In the boys 11 year old long jump final, Ben W from Bowral Public School finished in third place after he jumped 4.24 metres.
Zac K from Moss Vale Public School placed fourth in the boys 11 year old shotput finals. His throw measured up at 9.00 metres.
In the team rankings Bowral scored 14 points which put them in 19th place, Colo Vale scored seven points which put them in 41st place, Mittagong scored three points which put them in 63rd place and Moss Vale score one point which put them in 76th place.
In the 11 year old girls individual rankings, Lily H scored four points which secured her position in seventh place.
In the 11 year old boys individual rankings, Ben W placed 13th with two points and Zac K placed 17th with one point.
Maya B finished the girls 12-13 year old rankings in fourth place with seven points.
Tim O and Levi F finished in a tied seventh place in the boys 12-13 year old individual rankings with four points.
Students who placed in the top three of their individual events have advanced to the NSW PSSA Athletics Carnival.
Lily, Maya, Tim, Levi and Ben will represent the Southern Highlands in their individual events at the carnival on October 19 and 20 at the Sydney Athletic Centre.
