Former student Daniel Rumsey along with his father John attended the assembly to talk to staff and students.
Daniel is a past Moss Vale High School student who graduated in 2008.
Since leaving school, Daniel has gone from strength to strength in the world of competitive swimming.
He has set many world records at the Down Syndrome World Swimming Championships and competed in his sixth championships in Florence this year.
Daniel has won a multitude of gold, silver and bronze medals over the years in various competitions.
John gave a powerful speech to the students.
He said anyone could achieve their goals if they worked hard and spoke of how Daniel never let his disability get in the way of achieving his dreams.
John said all students should set achievable goals for themselves.
Moss Vale High School’s Community Liaison Coordinator Dianne Sutherland thanked Daniel and John for taking the time to attend the assembly and sharing Daniel’s inspirational story with the staff and students.
