Member for Goulburn Pru Goward encouraged the community to embrace ‘Get Ready Weekend 2016’.
Volunteer firefighters will be out in force across the Goulburn electorate on September 10 and 11.
Highlanders can learn how they can prepare for bushfires as well as know how to act by taking steps to ensure their safety.
“Get Ready Weekend’ is an important part of entering the warmer months where there is a greater risk of bush and grass fires,” Ms Goward said.
“Attending one of these events will be time well spent to ensure the protection and safety of you and your family.”
There will be many events across the state, including firefighting displays, opportunities to get aboard a fire truck, take a picture with a firefighter and see some of their specialist equipment.
Bunnings stores will also be hosting volunteer firefighters and displays so people can talk to them about things they can do to reduce their bush fire risk.
