However she has cerebral palsy and finds it difficult to communicate using her own words.
The Kollege of Knowledge Kommittee for Kids (KKKK) recently provided Taylor with funding to purchase much needed software for her computer.
Taylor has trialled lots of different equipment in the past and the best option was to buy a computer with eye gaze.
The communication software in that computer is called Tellus 5.
To practice and get better at using her eye gaze, Taylor needed software called Look to Learn which contains 40 different activities.
The KKKK provided Taylor’s family with $930 to buy this software.
Taylor has enjoyed playing the games and her eye gaze has been getting more accurate when she is using her communication software to request the foods she wants to eat every day at breakfast.
She also uses her communication device at school everyday to participate in school activities.
Her family and therapist, Laura Perez, thanked the KKKK and said they appreciated the support.
KKKK chairman Tony Springett said the committee had previously provided assistance for Taylor and her family.
“Her parents have been very grateful,” he said.
Mr Springett said the 4Ks had raised more than $240,000 last year to help children with special needs.
“There’s so many special needs classes now. Fortunately we’ve been able to raise some money to help that need.”
The KKKK will hold its Gentleman’s Lunch on October 21.
