Chevalier and Oxley Colleges, Gib Gate and Frensham, Tudor House and Kangaroo Valley Public School will be represented at the 2016 Godolphin Australian Inter-school Equestrian championships.
The local competitors are among 390 students and 400 horses taking part in the elite competition to be held at the Sydney Equestrain Centre from September 25-29.
The championship features riders from primary and secondary schools from each state of Australia competing in such disciplines as Show Horse, Combined Training, Eventing, Dressage and Jumping.
Among the local competitors are:
- Chevalier College -Tia Gotterson (Dressage) and Ruby Conlon (Jumping);
- Frensham – Amy Thompson (combined training), Antoinette Inglis (eventing – two classes), Thea Horsley (eventing), Charlotte Lalak (eventing), Emily Baldwin (jumping), Emily Gubbins (combined training), Phoebe O’Connell (show horse), Clemency Hughes (eventing/jumping) and Olivia Barton (eventing);
- Gib Gate – Alexandra Inglis (combined training), Lily Veleba (combined training), Chloe Garcia (jumping – two classes) and Elizabeth Taylor (show horse/dressage);
- Oxley College – Anneliese Wansey (dressage) and Hunter Taylor (show horse);
- Tudor House – Lachlan Blair (combined training); and
- Kangaroo Valley Public School – Aria Baker (jumping – two classes).
They were selected in the NSW team based on results from the State Championships held in June as well as consideration of results from other competitions attended by the riders.
The competition schedule is:
- September 26 – Show Horse Competition;
- September 27 – Combined Training, Eventing Dressage and Jumping Day 1;
- September 28 - Eventing Cross Country, Dressage Day 1, Jumping Day 2;
- September 29 - Eventing Show Jumping, Dressage Day 2, Jumping Day 3
Entry is free for spectators and all are welcome.
