Wollondilly Shire Council engineers inspected the bridge with member for Hume Angus Taylor recently to evaluate the damage.
The bridge was damaged during the massive storm event in June this year.
Mr Taylor said the Wollondilly Shire council could apply for Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) funding.
“I have been in regular contact with the federal minister for justice Michael Keenan’s office on the situation and have been informed that individuals and businesses impacted by the downpour in June may also be eligible for NDRRA support,” he said.
“I want to assure the community that we are working on getting the bridge open again as soon as possible.
“The federal government is well aware that Broughton Pass Bridge is an important transport link for services, supplies and customers.”
The rain on June 5 caused a section of Wilton Road to be removed when a section of the six-metre high sandstone retaining wall collapsed.
Since the storms, the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Allowance has also been activated to provide income assistance to eligible employees, small businesses and primary producers.
