Preparations are underway for the inaugural Bowral Tulip Time Mile.
The event will be held as part of the Greater Bank RunNSW Series.
This mile (1.6km) distance event will be held in the picturesque Southern Highlands.
It will be run in conjunction with the Bowral Tulip Festival on September 17.
Event organisers have officially partnered with the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
The event aims to raise much-needed funds for brain cancer research, advocacy and awareness in Australia.
Entry is open to all runners, from students in Year 3 and upwards.
The course is one-and-a-half laps of Bong Bong Street.
Races will start at 3pm on September 17.
It will be held at the conclusion of the Tulip Time Parade.
The Tulip Time Festival has enjoyed a previous association with running events.
In previous years, fun runs have been held at the festival.
More than 30 children signed up for the fun run in 2014, which was a one mile dash as well.
Winners on the day included Mackenzie Edwards (pictured above) in the girls Years 3-6 category.
It was the first time a fun run had been held during Tulip Time since 2010.
The 2016 Tulip Time Festival will begin on September 13 and run until September 25.
Events will be held daily from 9am onwards.
This year’s Tulip Time theme is “Alice in Wonderland”.
The charity partner is the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
The 2016 ambassador is Marcella Zemanek.
