The annual Civic2Surf event will be held next month to raise money and awareness for youth mental health.
The event has been organised by students from the Australian National University (ANU)
About 60 ANU students will run from Canberra to Sydney on September 2 and 3.
The event will include an overnight stop at Bong Bong Racecourse.
The Civic2Surf organising committee includes two former Highlanders.
Harriet Nixon, of Moss Vale, is the committee president and former Chevalier College student Kyle Wood is vice-president.
Ms Nixon said Bong Bong Racecourse marked the halfway point for the event’s route.
“We thought it was a good opportunity to showcase Bong Bong,” she said.
“We have previously held the overnight stay at people’s houses, but we thought Bong Bong was a good community location.”

The first Civic2Surf event was organised in 2011 to generate awareness and money for Batyr.
Batyr focuses on providing programs to assist young people to speak about mental health issues.
According to its website, Batyr has reached more than 40,000 young Australians.
Ms Nixon said Batyr was active on the ANU campus.
“Our goal is to raise about $20,000 for Batyr,” she said.
