David proved the match winner in extra time for Mittagong during its under-14Bs semi-final against Narellan.
The halfback stepped his way past a handful of defenders and ran 20 metres to dive over next to the posts.
The try secured a 18-14 win for the Lions at Mittagong Sports Ground.
David said it he was “so nervous” as he ran towards the try line on Saturday.
“I was pretty nervous that I might drop it,” he said.
“I was so happy when I put the ball down [over the try line].”

David said it was a tense battle with Narellan.
“I was nervous the whole game, but I was happy to do it for the boys,” he said.
It was a see-sawing contest on Saturday and the score finished at 14-all at the end of regulation time.
The result meant the game went into two five-minute halves of golden point extra time.
Both sides had several attempts at field goal, but neither was able to break the deadlock in the first half of extra time.
Tempers boiled over in the second half of extra time.
As a result, Mittagong lock Tim Boyde was sent to the sinbin and Narellan fullback Zac Jackson was sent off.
With the clock ticking down, David Eccleston was able to find some space and score the winning try.
Lions under-14Bs coach Dale Muir said it was a thrilling contest.
“It was really good, a heart stopping game,” he said.
“We had four under-13s players backing up today and the game wouldn’t give in.
“Everyone is enjoying their footy and working hard.”
In the other semi-final, The Oaks/Mt Annan secured a 22-10 win over the Moss Vale Dragons.
The Oaks/Mt Annan led 12-4 at half time and was able to overcome a second half challenge from the Dragons.
The highlight for Moss Vale was two tries by prop Joel Douglas.
Moss Vale coach Mitch Crimmins said it was a disappointing outcome on Saturday.
“It was just one of those days,” he said.
“Silly errors cost us and it was not the result that we wanted.”
The Lions and Dragons under-14s teams will now meet in a sudden-death preliminary final next weekend.
