THE Bowral Blacks under-18s secured a comprehensive win over Dural last Sunday at Eridge Park.
The result continued Bowral's successful campaign in the Sydney club competition.
The match was evenly poised at half time despite Bowral holding a 12-point lead.
The game was far from being secured as the Blacks repelled wave after wave of the Dural attack.
The line speed of Bowral was a key success factor in ensuring the defence's effectiveness.
After the half-time break, Bowral used the wind effectively to kick down field and create territorial supremacy.
Bowral then applied the blowtorch with their fast line speed defence which led to numerous try-scoring opportunities.
The Blacks took full advantage of these opportunities by linking well-structured forward and back-line moves.
The final score was 31-0.
Try scorers were Dylan Palmer-Quigg (two), Darcy Cotton, Lachlan Frean and Baden Stewart.
Conversions were scored by Dylan Palmer-Quigg (two) and Sam Clarke (one).
This places Bowral in eighth spot on the ladder and gives the team a realistic shot at making the semi-finals with three rounds left.
There is only one win separating Bowral from making the top four.
Coaches Ron Cotton and Paul Frean have worked hard on creating a cohesive and accountable culture.
This approach has been supported by team manager Tim Stevens and strength and conditioning coach Dave Whetton.
This Sunday, the Bowral team travels to Epping.
