The Big Book Sale was the major fundraiser for the Bundanoon History Group.
President of the group Marianne Ward said there was a book for everyone somewhere in the hall.
"People are leaving with huge boxes and bags of boxes," she said.
"We didn't think we'd get this many books [donated], we received books up until 4.00pm [on Friday]."
Eager buyers queued outside the door to the Bundanoon Soldiers' Memorial Hall before the doors opened at 9.00am.
Ms Ward said people were there to "buy, buy, buy".
"Sorting through all these books was a huge job for the willing volunteers from the history group," she said.
"We want to move these books on, that's why they are $1 and $2 for hardbacks."
The money raised will go towards projects group members are working on, including updating the archives.
Ms Ward said the group planned on erecting plaques at historical sites around Bundnaoon.
The next activity for the group is the oral history of Bundanoon morning tea at the Bundanoon Club, to be held at 10am on August 17. All are welcome.
Southern Highland News reporter Claire Fenwicke was there among the books.
