The tool provides the public with the option to report lost property, intentional damage or graffiti and theft via a secure, convenient website.
The NSW Police Force Community Portal allows people who report non-urgent crime to make and receive updates and to be contacted directly by police if further information is required.
Use of the portal is linked to a MyServiceNSW account - to use the portal, create an account on the Service NSW website or from the home page of the NSW Police Force Community Portal.
NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione joined NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Police Troy Grant and NSW Minister for Finance, Services and Property to launch the service last week.
Commissioner Scipione said the portal would not replace the ability for people to report such crimes in person or by phone, but would add another convenient means of contact.
"This resource is about recognising the changing needs of the community we serve and the ever-increasing role technology plays in their day-to-day lives," he said.
He said the platform was easy to use and provided the uder with step-by-step instructions.
"I can also assure those making a report that the information you provide is strictly confidential and is stored securely as you make your way through the reporting process."
The platform was developed and implemented by the NSW Police Force Operational Policing Program, Business and Technology Services, PoliceLink and Service NSW.
