The Highlands has received millions of dollars to improve health, education and safety services.

Released on Tuesday, the budget outlined record investment in services and infrastructure throughout the state.

The Bowral Hospital redevelopment has received $20 million, as part of a record infrastructure investment of $73.3 billion over the next four years across NSW.

The Moss Vale Police Station has been allocated $9.2 million, and the Bowral Public School upgrade will benefit from $2.07 million.

The Highlands region has also been allocated almost four per cent of the state's total funding under the Fixing Country Roads program.

Member for Wollondilly Jai Rowell said the budget produced "record" funding totals across key services.

"This includes a record $21 billion investment in health services, a record $13.3 billion on school education services, and a record $8.1 billion to ensure community safety," he said.

Member for Goulburn Pru Goward said the budget would make a "positive difference" in the region.

"The NSW Liberals and Nationals government has shown financial discipline and economic competence to turn this state around from the days of Labor, making possible a budget that will make a positive difference to the lives of all people in NSW," she said.

"The Government has taken NSW from having the lowest jobs growth of any mainland state to a position where we have the lowest unemployment rate in the country, the strongest employment growth and where we are creating almost two-thirds of the nation's jobs.

"This is great news for families in the Goulburn electorate - last year 54,900 jobs were created in regional NSW and that expansion is set to continue."

The 2016-17 budget reported a surplus of $3.4 billion in 2015-16. It has been forecast that the budget will have an even higher surplus of $3.7 billion in 2016-17.

The increase of funding to education, health and family and community services across NSW will create more employment opportunities for teachers, nurses and police officers.
