Such crimes are often opportunistic and the harder we make it for these thieves to commit these crimes the less occur.
Unfortunately, most of these incidents have occurred because cars have been left unlocked and easily accessible to thieves.
Many times money, mobile phones and computers are simply left visible in the car with doors left unsecured - too much temptation for your average opportunistic thief.
So please take that extra time and effort to lock your car.
We have also experienced a rise in bin theft. Like I said in an earlier article, make it as hard as possible to have your property stolen.
Regarding bin theft, make your bin as identifiable as possible so it stands out.
A thief will think twice if your property stands out and links it to you more obviously, and makes it harder for the thief to hide.

In more exciting news for the local community, I have had the pleasure of welcoming two new Police Lock Up Keepers to our area.
Senior Constable Mark Hutchinson at Bundanoon and Senior Constable James Gartside at Robertson.
They are both experienced officers and are not only a great addition to our local police team, but they are also a great addition to their respective communities.
It has been great to see the community support for our local police at recent "Coffee with a Country Cop" events held in their local communities, with numerous members of the community coming out to meet their local police and have a coffee on us.

As the driving conditions deteriorate due to the cold and inclement weather throughout our winter, I again plead with our road users to obey the road regulations and drive to the conditions and their ability.
We continue to have accidents mostly due to driver inattention and inability, so I urge everyone to drive carefully.
I was involved in a multi-agency meeting to discuss solutions for the Sheepwash Road, Illawarra Highway intersection last Friday at Wingecarribee Council.
All the agencies at the table are committed to identifying an appropriate outcome to make the intersection safer and I am confident we are progressing in the right direction, however ultimately most of the accidents caused at this intersection are caused by driver inattention and poor driver behaviour.
In the meantime we will target this area heavily with our Highway Patrol in an effort to slow people down and make this area a safer place to drive.
Until next week....
