Two boys who have yet to reach double figures - Hayden Honey and Kurt Grima - are two of our region's most successful athletes.
Hayden (7) and Kurt (9) were recently selected in the NSW junior (under-21s) ten pin bowling team.
Remarkably, Hayden is half the age of the team's next youngest player.
Hayden and Kurt will board a plane to Melbourne in September to compete in the prestigious East Coast Challenge Cup (ECCC).
It is just another example of the sporting success in the Highlands.
This area has plenty of sporting talent, particularly among our youth.
Ten pin bowling does not often spring to mind when people think of sporting prowess.
But both Hayden and Kurt must be congratulated.
For Hayden and family, it is a 120km round trip from Canyonleigh each week to train at Highlands Ten Pin.
They have shown that no matter how young you are, success is not far away if you work hard for what you want.
The news rounds out a week of success for young Highlands athletes.
On Wednesday, the Southern Highland News announced Bowral's Georgie Lewis had obtained a football scholarship in the US.
Georgie, 14, has already set up her future in the sport.
She can undertake the scholarship after she finishes her Year 12 studies in 2020. Georgie will get a preference for which US college she attends.
Conversely, basketballer Chris Tyler returned to the Highlands last week after taking up a scholarship in the US. Chris, 21, has temporarily returned home while on holidays from university.
The Moss Vale point guard has spent the last two years undertaking a scholarship at the University of Wisconsin.
Chris will return to the US later this year to continue his studies overseas.
It's fantastic to see Highlanders achieving great things in the sporting arena.
With so much talent in the area, there will be plenty more good news to come.
The Rio Olympics are just around the corner and we wish those Highlanders who will be representing Australia all the best.
