The Wingecarribee SES unit received two callouts in the space of 15 minutes for assistance at road crashes.
SES members rescued a woman who was trapped in her vehicle on the Illawarra Highway, near Tudor House School.
Local SES controller Warren Turner said the woman was "very heavily trapped".
"The job was very difficult and took about one hour and 40 minutes to release her from the vehicle," he said.
"Our team achieved the rescue under difficult circumstances for a safe extrication of the person.
"We remained on scene to help the crash investigators carry out their tasks."
Fifteen minutes earlier, the local SES received a callout for assistance at a road incident in Berrima.
Mr Turner said the SES was informed that a person was trapped under their motorcycle.
He said the person was rescued before the SES arrived.
"But we continued with first aid until the paramedics arrived," he said.
"They were then able to go on to the more serious crash [on the highway].
"Our team has highly trained volunteers who train hard to be able to perform such roles."
