The club has moved into second division for the rest of the Group 6 season.
Moss Vale had its first outing in second division on Sunday, losing 16-10 to Mt Annan at Victoria Park.
Dragons coach Terry Fish said the team showed signs of improvement against Mt Annan.
"We had better numbers and were more competitive for longer," he said.
"There were a lot better signs from the boys."
Fish said Moss Vale was led by strong performances from Robbie Payne and Dylan Bales.
"Everyone played well, but too much dropped ball hurt us," he said.
"We probably could have won that game otherwise.
"We have a bit of work to do."
Moss Vale's under-18s team also played on Sunday.
The Dragons under-18s recorded a 20-16 win against Picton.
