I assume he means as opposed to the attractions that a mine, a coal stockpile, a constant stream of noisy coal trains, a threatened water table and a mass of industrial infrastructure would bring to the area?
On the contrary, I think it shows that the people who live here care about their place, their environment, their water and the amenity of their nice towns and villages and aren't afraid to stand up to protect them.
That's the sort of place I want to live in.
