The program will monitor a selection of local herds that will be fed a range of dry and liquid supplementation products.
This will be done over six months to quantify the value of supplementary feeding over the leaner winter months.
Many producers experience drop off in winter months and often look to the range of supplementary products on offer to support stock growth.
Bowral Co-op animal scientist Kate Owers will run the program and will visit program participants on a monthly basis to administer the supplementation and monitor stock condition.
Co-op CEO Allan Bramble said the program signified their commitment to support best practice farming in the local district.
“[We will] actively work with the local farmers for a better outcome at the sale yards,” Mr Bramble said.
As part of the program producers will receive discounted farm services and a detailed analysis of their property which will include a personalised supplementary feeding strategy.
There will be two community information sessions will be held at the Bowral Co-op on the Thursday May 19 at 6pm and on Saturday May 21 at 11am.
The Bowral Co-op is located at 85 Kirkham Road, Bowral.
