Smoke from the burn may impact residents in the Southern Highlands.
NPWS regional manager Diane Garrood said the burn will be a continuation of the hazard reduction activities the NPWS started last week.
“The burn is planned to start at 10am on Saturday, May 7, with crews expected to work into the evening and finish up on Sunday, May 8, weather permitting,” she said.
“The burn aims to reduce fuel loads and takes advantage of current favourable conditions in the area.
“Aerial incendiaries may also be used to complete the burn so nearby residents may see helicopters over the fire zone."
Ms Garrood said smoke from the burn might impact residents in Alpine and Yerrinbool.
“Drivers on Old South Road are urged to take care and drive to conditions," she said.
"People with asthma or who are susceptible to respiratory problems are also advised to keep clear of the area or stay indoors."
This hazard reduction burn is endorsed by the Southern Highlands Bushfire Management Committee.
The committee is made up of local bush fire experts including local landholders, to identify and address local bush fire risks.
The proposed burn is part of many hazard reduction operations undertaken by NPWS across NSW each year, many with assistance from the Rural Fire Service (RFS) and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW).
