There is a new table at the steps leading down to Bar Beach, three new covered picnic tables at the adjacent Apex Park and also a new table at the Mill Bay end of the boardwalk.
Checking out the Bar Beach table was regular swimmer Trevor Bennett and councillor Neil Burnside.
Mr Bennett and his early morning swimming crew met with council on site a few weeks ago to discuss improvements and it was “fortuitous” according to clr Burnside that the improvements works had been scheduled.
Council is yet to move the bin next to the shower to a better location, and Mr Bennett said while “it looks good” he would also like to see a bike rack and some additional seating at the location in the future.
“It’s a beautiful spot and we discussed putting a covered table here, but it was decided that would just block the view and people can go to the new covered tables at Apex Park if they want,” clr Burnside said.
Those three covered tables will be officially unveiled and named in honour of John Wallens for his contribution to the construction and subsequent lighting of the Narooma boardwalk.
Clr Burnside said the new tables were all part of council’s record $54 million capital expenditure budget.
