WE'VE become used to seeing him in blue and gold.
But this weekend, Daniel Alvaro will don a sky blue jersey.
Alvaro has been selected in the Intrust Super Premiership NSW Residents squad that will take on the XXXX Queensland Residents team on Sunday.
The Parramatta and Wentworthville forward found out about his selection last weekend.
"I was stoked. I didn't really put too much thought into it, I just try to play well week to week so it didn't really come into my mind," he said.
"It's a really big honour to be picked in the team and I can't wait to play."
Alvaro began training with the team this week and hoped to get as much game time as possible in Sunday's match.
The first training session was on Monday when the team met at Concord Oval.
The match will kick off at 1.40pm and the NSW team will be under the guidance of coach Rip Taylor (Wyong Roos).
"I only met him for the first time [on Monday] but from what I've heard he's a really good coach and well respected."
Alvaro's parents will watch from the sidelines and he said he had received plenty of support from his mates back home in the Highlands.
After making his NRL debut last year, Alvaro has been included in Paramatta's starting line up this year.
"It was a bit surreal but it's been awesome," he said.
"I was feeling pretty nervous but I was fine once I got into it. It's been a good challenge."
The Mittagong Lions junior moved interstate and played for Brisbane in the Holden Cup before signing with Parramatta in 2013.
He played in the Eels Holden Cup team before moving up to play for the Wentworthville Magpies in the NSW Cup.
Over the past two seasons, Alvaro has made 11 NRL appearances and scored two tries.
He has also been named in the Intrust Super Premier team of the week in rounds two and four.
