This is one of the best sources of fundraising for the Bowral Memorial Hospital Auxilliary and they have been involved every single year.

Why is it the Council (Ranger) decided to take down the directional signs which had been placed around the approaches to Bowral Memorial Hall, early on Sunday morning?

The signs were professionally signwritten, unobtrusive in size and colour, simply wording Antique Fair with a directional left or right arrow.

The organiser of the fair erects the signs on Saturday morning and they are all removed promptly at 5pm on Sunday afternoon.

Is this too much to ask to allow these signs to be in place for such a short time?

Regardless of a council representative's opinion, this event is good for tourism with exhibitors booking accommodation, local newspaper advertising and endless meals and refreshments purchased during their stay.

Approximately 60 per cent of the visitors to the fair are from outside the Highlands so don't tell me this is not good beneficial.

Furthermore, in case someone might have their nose out of joint about exhibitors coming from outside the Southern Highlands, many of the dealers are local, the organiser is local, and benefits are going to the most deserving Bowral Hospital Auxilliary, a harder working bunch of volunteeers you will not find.

Incidentally I noticed other signs around the area promoting a Health and Wellness event which had not been removed. Why the discrimination?

I have never experienced a regional council with such an uncooperative attitude and believe me it does nothing to promote tourism with so many people going away shaking their heads at their unbelievable petty mindedness.
