Belle real estate agents say the Wollongong market is still strong and steady after clearing $11 million in property at the weekend, including one standout in Berkeley.

The five-bedroom brick home at 45 Shearwater Drive went under the hammer for $751,000, more than $50,000 over the reserve price.
It comes as a two-bedroom cottage in the same suburb at Short Street sold for $731,000, though the original Ray White campaign was marketed around $600,000.
Until now, the record price for the street was $420,000.
Belle Wollongong principal Darren Kay said it highlights the fact more people are moving to the fringes of Wollongong, naming other hotspots like Mangerton, Windang, Primbee, East Corrimal, Bellambi and Fairy Meadow.
Mr Kay said other great results included a four-bedroom home with a pool at Lighthorse Drive Woonona going for $1.65 million. Another was a three-bedroom Wollongong harbour front unit going for $1.67 million.
Ray White Figtree’s Nick Ridley said he has seen strong interest in the market lately from builders and developers, as well as “mum and dad investors”.
He added Berkeley and Lake Heights had seen exceptional growth as people often saw them as suburbs with good value.
