Heathcote MP Lee Evans said the government is spending $2.5 million for the work between Waterfall and Helensburgh.
“Installing this wire mesh will greatly reduce the risk of rocks falling onto the motorway,” Mr Evans said.
The work will take place from May 9 to July 22 and will see single lane closures on weekdays between 9am and 3pm and full closures from 7pm.
