Thoroughbred Stud Farm Briddon Park recently celebrated a great success at the Inglis Classic yearling sale.
Held in Sydney, Briddon Park went head to head with plenty of multimillion dollar stud operations.
There were 30 I am Invincible yearlings on offer at the sale but Briddon Park can now boast the highest priced Southern Highlands produced I am Invincible of the sale.
Briddon Park came out on top of several sales preparation barns in the district.
Operated by Wayne and Ingrid Slattery, the pair was elated with the results.
"I was nervous that there were just so many entered that the market was flooded. Our filly (Luna) is an October foal making her smaller than some of the others on offer," Ingrid said.
"I was confident however that we had given her the best possible chance. We also did very well when comparing average sale prices coming in second only to Milburn Creek and they had one passed in."
The Briddon Park pair has plenty of experience when it comes to breeding quality horses.
Wayne has worked with some top thoroughbred horses as a farrier and horse breaker, including Japanese Hall of Fame stallion Narita Brian when he worked on Hayata Farm.
He oversees the physical development of the yearlings and trains their walk.
"I am convinced the filly's movement is what brought the money," he said.
Ingrid has returned to thoroughbreds after a long time away breeding and producing performance horses.
She has brought with her presentation skills learnt in the show ring along with vet nursing experience and nutrition.
"It really is a team effort. We worked together to get the absolute best result, we review, reassess and alter the program for the horse along the way, daily if necessary," she said.
"I'm so proud of this beautiful filly. She looked amazing and was perfectly behaved and it was a fabulous result for the terrific owners."
Briddon Park plans to attend future Inglis and Magic Millions Yearling sales.
