HIGHLANDER Phoebe Johnson's stature in basketball continues to grow.
Phoebe has been selected to represent the Australian Country Cup under-16s girls team to tour New Zealand next month.
The Berrima teenager is 14 years old and already stands at six foot, four inches (193cm).
She was picked for Australia on the back of a solid performance for NSW Kookaburras under-16s at the recent Australian Junior Basketball Country Cup.
The Kookaburras placed at the championship, but Phoebe put in some excellent performances at centre.
Phoebe battled leg injury concerns in the lead-up the competition.
Phoebe said she was pleased with her form at the cup.
"I played pretty well, it was my first comp for the year," she said.
The tour of northern New Zealand will begin on March 23 and run for six days.
The Australians will take on teams from the host country.
Phoebe said she looked forward to her first trip to New Zealand.
It will only be the second time Phoebe has travelled outside Australia.
She went on a holiday with her family to Fiji when she was seven years old.
"It's my first overseas trip for basketball and hopefully one of many to come," she said.
"I am really excited and I look forward to the opportunity."
Phoebe said she had some goals for the tour.
"I want to improve on my knowledge and basketball skills while establishing new friendships," Phoebe said.
In between representatives duties, Phoebe plays for the Moss Vale Basketball Association and attends Chevalier College.
Phoebe thanked the association for its ongoing support.
"I particularly want to thank my coach Rose Parmenter," she said.
