On Saturday, February 6 I attended the Battle for Berrima bash on their village green delivering No Coal determinations to the mayor from each street in Berrima.

It was received with a pledge from Larry Whipper that our council will support the aims of no coal mining in the Southern Highlands - Korean company VAMOOSCO and its Australian subsidiary EXHUME COAL would get no endorsement from Wingecarribee Shire!Saturday's B4B initiative is a continuing battle, yet one more step towards gaining a greater public awareness of the perils of coal mining and obtaining support from media in disseminating this public voice. The next sound needs to come from a politician's throat, in Macquarie Street and in Canberra.
The preceding day, Friday, February 5, I was privileged to be an invited guest at the Wombat Hollow Forum lunch, with our Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull as the guest of honour.
Mr Turnbull spoke very well, with charm and humour, with conviction and strength.
He spoke with a degree of passion about supporting innovative technologies and business models within Australia.
He voiced his interest in renewable energy, and his great respect for our ground water."Wars may be fought over water" he said.
The message I gathered was that we should harvest it carefully and conserve it with its greatest potential in mind.
What the PM said impressed me. I may even vote for him next election.
But I was so tempted to raise a hand during question time and ask "Mr Prime Minister, if you feel ground water is so important, is this belief compatible with Federal endorsements for coal mining in Australia?"
I didn't ask the question because the forum event was a genuinely feel good day.
However, the question remains, and I hope anti coal mining organisations like Battle for Berrima will soon get his ear.
