A free community forum will be held at Mittagong RSL on Saturday, February 20.
From 10am-1pm, Highlanders will have a chance to learn about 'health decisions as you age', 'scam awareness' and 'making peace with the past'.
Three speakers will be present including Sue Field, Australian Centre for Elder Law, Christine Ambs, Department of Fair Trading and Petrea King, Founding Director and CEO of Quest for Life Foundation.
Community Engagement and Continuing Professional Development officer Laurelle Bennett from South Western Sydney phn said the topics chosen for the forum had risen from talks with GPs.
This will be the first forum of its kind to be held in the Highlands with others previously held at Liverpool, Fairfield and Bankstown.
Ms Bennett said previous forums had been success, with Sue Field and extremely popular speaker.
Ms Field will discuss issues such as advanced care and guardianship, allowing the audience to better understand their options.
"It's an opportunity to talk to someone with a legal background without having to pay for it.
"She talks in layman's terms and the community really seems to enjoy her talks," Ms Bennett said.
Christine Ambs will delve into the world of scams, including how to identify them and ways to avoid them.
Petrea King will speak about how to move on from the past and enjoy the future.
"If you've done something wrong in the past and can't put it behind you, she'll talk about how to put it behind you and move forward to have a happier future," Ms Bennett said.
This forum will be directed more towards the aged sector and Ms Bennett said if this initial forum was a success, they would be able to work with the community to establish more relevant topics for the future.
Light refreshments will be available.
