The course was completed over a period of six months and was run as a part of the University of Wollongong's In2Uni pathways program in conjunction with Wise Education.
Student Tracey O'Neill said the course offered her greater insight into retail management and a pathway to a new career in human resources.
"It was an opportunity to look at management from both the business side and the customer service side," Ms O'Neill said.
"It showed us what a positive environment could do for both employees and customers in a business."
Campus manager Stephen Lowe said the program was unique to the Southern Highlands.
"The content is very relevant to the area and is meeting the needs of the business community," Mr Lowe said.
"Distinctive courses such as these are the way forward for us."
Students who completed the program included Tracey O'Neill, Daniel Anderson, Maree Bates, Ronda Hines and Jessica Cheshire.
Applications for the next intake of the certificate four in retail management is now open.
Eligible applicants will receive a scholarship towards their qualification and entry into a University of Wollongong degree upon completion.
